“Our students had a blast creating soft sculptures and recycled
sculptures with Sharon. She was so involved, helping each child create their own
original sculpture using cloth, fibers and recycled materials. We are still
talking about what a great experience it was having Sharon in our school!!!"
Susan Rudolph, Freedom Elementary School
"Over the years I have known Sharon she has had two main
interests - art and kids. She has a natural gift for relating to kids. This has
been enhanced by her work with at-risk kids at the Respite Center. Kids like and
listen to Sharon. So do adults. I can assure you that she will accomplish what
she proposes to do.”
Meg Miller, Director The Respite Center
Soft sculpture figures are
made from fabric and other simple materials. All cultures throughout the ages
have made miniature representations of the human form. When soft sculpture
figures accompany us, especially on important journeys, we carry a piece of home
with us.
Found art sculptures are made from recycled materials. They encourage us to use
what we find at hand to make art - especially items that normally end up in the
land fill. They also help us see the whole world as art.
During the artist-in-residency at Freedom Elementary School in Freedom, WI, K-2
students made soft sculptures and 3rd graders made found art sculptures.
